Chapter 2, Greasepaint's first production has been supported and co-produced by SLAP enterprise. And here's more info on these guys who've really made us feel welcome and have been an amazing team to work with!

About SLAP Enterprise
SLAP enterprise is the brainchild of filmmaker Lata Bhasin. An enterprise that aims at promoting and supporting the arts in the city of Delhi. Lata’s journey into the creative world started with writing poetry, which she posted on a blog, and the poetry blog evolved into a book. She never completely stopped writing poetry, but she expanded into film production. She first helped to produce a 38 min documentary about Auroville, the ashram in Pondicherry. This Documentary is about a call, an irresistible call which has drawn them all together. Awakening to a new hope, an impossible dream and the promise of fulfillment, is what draws the inhabitants to this place. The journey begins there, in Auroville, a secret unity struggles to manifest. The dream lights up and transmutes their mundane lives, and a new world is born, to build The City of Dawn.
Then, she ventured into fiction by writing the script for the short film Kaash....if only. The film shot entirely in the beautiful city of Delhi is based on Lata’s true life experiences and those she were in contact with. A short film exploring the variety of hopes and desires that lurk secretly within our hearts. It is set around a bus ride, symbolic of life’s journey and people from all walks of life. Kaash received much acclaim from all quarters across the world and travelled to prestigious film festivals around the world including Cannes. Lata has crafted a Bollywod film script and tinkered with a musical.
Lata’s most recent foray has been in the world of theatre with the musical “Mahim Junction” directed by Sohaila Kapur. Lata’s SLAP enterprise produced this successful play that ran to packed houses in Delhi and is slated to travel to various cities in India and abroad in the coming months. Lata has also co-founded an organization that helps meet the needs of the urban poor in Delhi.

Greasepaint's first production- Chapter Two
Chapter Two is the story of two people George Schneider and Jennie Malone, who discover each other at the threshold of a new chapter in their respective lives. How an individual’s past traps him in his memories and makes it impossible to do that thing we casually call “moving on”. Why we don’t communicate even when we want to, why we hurt especially when we do not want to. These are a few questions the play raises and tries to find answers to in its two acts.
Leo Scneider and Faye Medwick are two restless souls in search of something they have never seen, done or known! The cheekiness and uninhibited sexuality of these two characters keeps the play spiced up and the audiences in splits non-stop…
The success of the play lies in its ability to breathe in the same air as you and I. One of those rare plays where one can’t help but smile and say “Yes this has happened to me”.

Who we are...
Greasepaint was started by a couple of people, and we thought we should introduce who we are, before we get more into what we do here at Greasepaint.
Vishal Verma- Founder & Director, Greasepaint
Vishal started his theatre career in the year 1999 at the age of 17 years, as the lead actor in the mega musical “Singing in the Rain” with Delhi’s leading theatre group Stagelights. He went on to study Economics at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, which marked the beginning of an extremely interesting phase of his theatre life. College theatre brought with it varied roles, experimental hard hitting themes, awards and recognition in the field of acting, direction and production. He has also essayed lead roles in a number of professional productions namely “Chapter Two” (Nicholas Kharkhongar, Delhi, 2000), “Whose wife is it anyway” (Stagelights, Delhi, 2003), “The Lesson” (Nepathya, Mumbai, 2005),“Smelling Manipur in Africa” (Pornob Mukherjee, Mumbai, 2006), “Under the Covers” (Stagelights, Delhi, 2006), “Mahim Junction” (Sohaila Kapur, 2009) and “That’s the Exit” (Madhu Sagar, 2009) . He has worked closely with the children of the YMCA orphanage in theater workshops and has acted in a short film “How to get rid of it” in the year 2005.
Shikha Pahwa- Co-Founder & Director, Greasepaint
For Shikha, it all started at the age of ten, when she acted in ‘Annie’- a Kidsworld Public production in New Delhi. This started a love affair with theatre which has lasted to date. The Chief Secretary of the Dramatics Society at Shri Ram College of Commerce, she acted in and directed several stage play and street play productions in the Inter Collegiate circle. She was adjudged the ‘Best Actress’ at prestigious college festivals at St. Stephens, Delhi and BITS, Pilani. Apart from being the leading actress in many productions Shikha’s body of work includes pivotal roles in a number of professional public productions namely Whose Wife is it Anyway? (Stage Lights, Delhi, 2002), The See Saw (Theatre World, Delhi, 2004) and The Night of January Sixteenth (Dracula, Jamshedpur, 2006).

Greasepaint
“Greasepaint” was founded in the city of Delhi in the year 2007 by a group of young theatre enthusiasts with the sole ambition of exploring the immense possibilities of this powerful medium. We see theatre as a beautiful amalgamation of all art forms that graciously embraces drama, music, dance, poetry, and design to create “experiences” for its audience. It is these experiences that fascinate us, and inspire us and it is these experiences that we seek to create through our theatre.
While Greasepaint is only in its second year of existence, the members of the group have been working together as friends of theatre for the last decade. Most of us came together in the innovative corridors of college theatre and in the following years, the members have worked together and individually in several professional productions to create an impressive body of work for themselves. We have now all come together as Greasepaint, bringing in our experience, talent and most of all enthusiasm for theatre. Our sole aim is to entertain and touch our audiences with some of the best works of our times.
Greasepaint believes in grooming and promoting new talent and collaborating with other groups and has kept its doors open for fresh talent and ideas since the year of its inception. The group is now ready with its production of – Neil Simon’s “Chapter Two” in association with SLAP Enterprise. After premiering the play in Delhi, we plan to travel with the play to Mumbai and Bangalore through 2009-10.
